25 Years of Added Value: WING Celebrates Its Anniversary

2024-12-03

A major real estate developer and investor in Central Europe, WING celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The company, striving to create iconic buildings that provide long-term added value and promoting sustainability and social responsibility, has played a key role in shaping today’s modern real estate market over the past quarter of a century. Since 1999, it has made investments worth nearly HUF 750 billion in Hungary and, through its development projects, made a significant contribution to shaping the skyline of Budapest. As a result of its international expansion, it is now also a major player in Germany and Poland.

The Group’s history began 25 years ago in Klapka utca intersecting Váci út, and today its operations span all segments of the real estate market, with its portfolio including offices, industrial and logistics properties, retail real estates, hotels as well as residential development projects. The Group boasts projects such as the Telekom Campus, the headquarters of Magyar Telekom, T-Systems and Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions; the headquarters of Ericsson and Siemens-evosoft on the bank of the Danube; the Wizz Air Training Centre; the ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel, Budapest’s first airport hotel; GOBUDA Mall, Hegyvidék Shopping Mall; and the LIVING residential parks, including the BREEAM-certified Le Jardin and the latest Római Park. Under the WING Industrial umbrella brand, it has developed and operates major industrial and logistics business parks in Budapest and its surroundings, such as East Gate and Airport City Business Park. Recent project highlights include the mixed-use development of the ESG-compliant Liberty office & hotel which brought the first TRIBE hotel to Hungary; Liget Center where RTL Hungary’s downtown headquarters are located; the Vitrum boutique office building; and HOP Technology Office Park, Budapest’s only downtown technology office park.

Over its quarter of a century of operation, the Group has grown into a market-leading real estate company: WING has had development projects worth HUF 750 billion in Hungary and constructed 52 buildings totalling 1.35 million square metres: an average of more than 2 new properties delivered each year. It now also has a strong presence on the international stage, with WING being the majority owner of Poland’s largest real estate developer, ECHO Investment, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, and the leading German residential and commercial property developer, BAUWERT. The Group has developed a total of 5.5 million square metres of real estate in these three countries.

"We are proud that, over the past 25 years, our Group has built an extremely strong team of experts and adapted well to the dynamic changes in the real estate market, while also upholding its core values, professional commitment and priorities. Adding value has always been our trademark; the buildings we develop make a significant contribution to urban development and the enrichment of the built environment in terms of both functionality and architecture”, said Noah Steinberg, CEO of WING, Modern real estate market in Hungary has emerged over the last quarter of a century and I am delighted that our Group has been a key player in shaping this process and that we can now demonstrate our core values of reliability, expertise and integrity on the international stage."

WING has unparalleled expertise in BTS (Built-To-Suit) development projects and is the first choice when it comes to constructing tailor-made, turnkey buildings. Over its quarter of a century of operation, environmental awareness and sustainability have become increasingly prominent in its activities; accordingly, in line with its values, WING was among the first companies in the Hungarian market to publish an ESG report in 2022.

This year, the Group delivered the final phase of Liberty, one of the most state-of-the-art and ESG-compliant mixed-use complexes in the country and, following an exemplary restoration to preserve historic heritage, Liget Center, housing RTL Hungary’s newly-established downtown headquarters.
