2024-07-16

Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport will have one more hotel with direct access to the terminal next year, as the 167-room TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel, another WING project, has reached the stage of structural completion. The new, four-star hotel will be inaugurated in 2025 Q2 and will be located within walking distance of the entrance to Terminal 2. TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel will be operating in direct connection with the three-star ibis Styles Budapest Airport Hotel, which was opened in 2018. The new hotel will be an important element of the airport's infrastructure expansion programme, intended for both business and leisure travelers.

TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel, which will be the brand's second establishment in Hungary – now being constructed by WING at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport – will be open for guests from 2025 and will offer with as many as 167 rooms and a total floor area of 8,000 square metres. With the implementation of the project, the range of airport hotel rooms will be expanded both in quantity and quality, the already well-known and popular three-star ibis Budapest Airport Hotel will be complemented by the four-star quality services of the TRIBE brand.

Noah Steinberg, CEO of WING, shared his thoughts: "We are proud that our Group is implementing its second development project at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport; the new terminal-connected hotel will be able to meet the needs of guests wishing to stay near the airport at the highest quality standards. As Hungary's largest international airport is a key location for the Hungarian tourism industry, the opening of the TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel in 2025 will be a major milestone for both WING and the airport. The new facility will further expand the airport's service infrastructure, and our Group will join the select club of real estate developers that have already delivered at least 1,000 hotel rooms in Hungary "

„Budapest Airport's passenger traffic in 2024 is forecast to exceed the record year of 2019. The construction of the new hotel, a joint development with WING, is another important step towards maintaining a high quality, comfortable and diverse service in and around the airport, even as passenger numbers continue to grow. We are delighted to see that the construction has reached another milestone, and business and leisure passengers will be able to take possession of the new hotel as early as 2025" - said Balázs Bogáts, Deputy Chief Commercial Officer of Budapest Airport.

The co-located ibis and TRIBE Budapest Stadium – another WING project, in the Liberty mixed-use building in District IX, which opened in December 2024 – has been operating with excellent guest ratings ever since its opening, and the newly built airport hotel will also be based on the TRIBE philosophy.

TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel will offer unique, stylish and functional spaces, catering for both business and leisure travellers. It will feature a 150-seat conference space, two meeting rooms, a fitness centre and a rooftop skybar, which will combine stunning views with curated culinary experiences. The hotel's spacious restaurant and lounge, as well as its terrace, will provide guests with a space to relax and connect. TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel is being designed with sustainability in mind, making TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel one of the first BREEAM certified hotels in Hungary.

In addition to enhancing the infrastructure of Budapest International Airport, the TRIBE Budapest Airport Hotel will further strengthen the capital city's position as a major international business and tourism hub. Hungary's largest international airport plays a pivotal role in both central European and domestic tourism, and the new terminal-linked hotel will contribute to its further development. The existing ibis Styles and the new TRIBE hotel will be directly connected, and the project's planned completion in 2025 is expected to drive further growth, meeting the demands of both the ever-increasing passenger traffic and guests’ demand for higher standard services.

WING will operate the new airport hotel under a management agreement with Accor. The structural construction of the hotel was carried out by Swietelsky Magyarország Kft.: the company is gradually delivering the floors to the developer, while the final general construction will be carried out by Bernecker Zrt., which has already started the fit out works. The interior spaces will be designed to meet the needs of business and transit travellers and the contemporary design concept of the TRIBE brand. Ester's Partners is responsible for the interior design.
