Building on Art program launched

Major players in the property market have come together to launch the Building on Art program and voluntary cooperation platform. The aim of the program is to integrate art into property projects in Hungary. WING is one of Hungary’s leading property developers and investors with a significant presence in the regional property market. It is also a founding member of the program and is committed to long-term value creation, architecturally, economically and socially. WING has already integrated contemporary art into several projects to provide inspiration to those living and working in the properties it has developed. And by joining this program, it is now making another contribution to the development of our cultural heritage.

The Building on Art program has been launched by leading operators in the Hungarian property market. Its aim is to create cultural value by making contemporary art a part of more and more investment projects in Hungary.

One of the founding members of the program is WING, whose corporate social responsibility activities are people focussed. The company aims to create a more liveable future for generations to come and puts a great emphasis on supporting and promoting artists in Hungary so that contemporary art can gain wider recognition.

Over the 20+ years since it was established, WING, one of the program’s founding members, has integrated contemporary art into several projects. One of the works previously presented by the group is entitled "Az épülés szelleme, Nagy Corvinus Napóra", which is attributed to György Jovánovics. The Kossuth Prize-winning artist's work is a 33-metre-high sculpture installation consisting of 28 elements that decorates the Danube-front façade of the new Corvinus University of Budapest building. Moreover, Gyula Várnai, who is one of the most important artists of Hungarian contemporary scene, has also created a unique piece, entitled “Erdő a tisztáson” in the Hegyvidéki Shopping Centre, which is developed by WING. The lenticular print, measuring 70 square metres, is the largest work of art ever created using this technique, and the installation, which was conceived and realised specifically for the site, is a stylized magnification of a field of dandelions.

The next step of WING's support for the arts is joining to the Building on Art programme. The Building on Art program was announced at the Inside Art conference, held at the Art Market between 6 and 9 October. The founding members are: GTC Magyarország Ingatlanfejlesztő Zrt., Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL Budapest), Market Építő Zrt., Optima Befektetési Zrt. and WING Zrt. The speakers at the conference, who came from both Hungary and abroad, used their presentations to give participants a clearer picture of the connections between property development and contemporary art.
