Liget Center Auditorium

LIGET CENTER AUDITORIUM
The Liget Center, developed and owned by WING, has undergone a significant transformation that is unique in the Hungarian real estate market. During the renovation, the two buildings under heritage protection, the Liget Center Auditorium and Classic, were reborn as a modern, sustainable office complex while preserving their architectural value. In the summer of 2024, RTL Hungary’s news directorate, along with the studios of its news and infotainment programs, moved into the Auditorium. From this new downtown base, widely known broadcasts such as RTL News, the Weather Report, and Fókusz are now aired.

SUSTAINABILITY
The Auditorium was once the congress hall of the former MÉMOSZ (National Union of Hungarian Construction Workers) headquarters and has been under heritage protection since 1999. During the renovation, preserving its modernist architectural features, meeting the tenant’s special technological requirements, and applying ESG principles were given priority. The property represents a unique development in the Hungarian office market: a more than 70-year-old facility has been transformed into a nearly zero-energy building with an “A” energy efficiency and an “A+” CO₂ emission efficiency rating. In addition, both the Liget Center Classic and the Auditorium operate on 100% green electricity.

PRESERVING AND CREATING VALUE
Numerous original details of the building have been restored: among them the artificial marble surfaces, the distinctive V-shaped supports, the period lamps, and the artificial stone coverings, all of which regained their original form. The restoration of the monumental relief Builders by István Tar, which adorns the façade of the Auditorium, was also carried out with particular care. To conclude the development, Dezső Lányi’s 1929 sculpture Construction Workers was also restored and returned to its original location in front of the entrance from Városligeti fasor.
